| PDP convenes Legislative Party meeting today | | | Early Times Report
Jammu: As the last budget session of present coalition government led by NC begins tomorrow, principle opposition party PDP is all set to take the government head on over its failures on multiple fronts during the past five years of its existence. The party has convened meeting of its Legislative Party tomorrow to chalk out a strategy which the legislators would follow individually as well as a collective Legislative group in the Assembly during the month long session. Sources said instead of the normal practice of holding meeting of Legislative Party one day ahead of the commencement of session, PDP leadership has decided to convene it tomorrow after Governor NN Vohra would address both the Houses of Legislature jointly, a customary practice before the session takes off to start of legislative proceedings with scheduled business. This also indicates the party would allow the first day proceedings smoothly, which mainly incorporates Governor NN Vohra's address to joint legislature in the Central Hall followed by some obituary references. Even though the issues are plenty and matters galore to take the government head on in an aggressive manner , there would be no disruption of the Governor's address, said the sources. Party president Mehbooba Mufti who also happens to be the leader of the opposition as also legislative party leader has convened the meeting tomorrow in which all legsilators including Patron of the party Mufti Mohammad Sayeed would also remain present to give direction to the group as to what strategy would be followed during the budget session. This meeting assumes importance also in the wake of the fact that this being the last budget session of coalition government, the party would rake up the issues to its favour to hilt and leave no option for allies of the government to defend their acts of ommission and commission, sources furher said. It would be a resonating session which many issues on which government faltered in previous years also coming to fore with opposition cornering them bluntly. "There are so many issues which PDP as main opposition party would raise, the latest being new administrative units on which this government has created mor confusion than offering any relief....people are on roads as they feel betrayed and denialof justice", said AR Veeri while talking to ET as to what is in party's kitty for the session. PDP as an aware and concerned political party is alive to pains and sufferings of common masses on their day to day issues, he said adding that as public representatives and as party as a whole it would rake up power crisis in Kashmir. The party would expose the false claims of government on transfers, repairs of damaged transfers besides erratic supply, he explained, adding further that they would bring to fore the cash starved PDD as its functioning is largely dependent on CDF of MLAs. In addition to this, the party would rake up the issues of corruption, growing unemployment and failure on varied fronts. In nut shell the opposition role would unfold with aggressive strategy in which it would put a big question mark to government as to what tangible it has achieved during the past five years for J&K state and its people. |
