Jammu, Feb 11: Police today claimed to have busted a hawala racket with the arrest of three persons who are expected to be close associates of Kashmir based separatist leader besides recovering Rs 1 lakh from their possession. The identities of the accused arrested by the police have been ascertained as Abdul Majeed of Marhote Tehsil Surankote, Poonch, Noor Mohammad Malik of Phagsoo, Thathri, Doda and Qazi Mohd Asghar of Hardi Surankote. "Acting of specific information, SOG team alongwith police this morning arrested two persons identified as Abdul Majeed, of Marhote, Surankote, Poonch and Noor Mohammad Malik of Phagsoo, Thathri, district Doda," Atul Goel, SSP Jammu here told reporters. Sharing details of the incident, SSP Jammu said, "a joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and Bus stand police intercepted two persons at Trikuta complex and during frisking police recovered hawala money of Rupees one Lakh (1,00,000) along with some documents belonging to terrorist outfit." However, sources claimed that the arrests were made under the jurisdiction of city police station. Sources further said that police is ascertaining the role of separatists in the racket. He further said that during preliminary investigation, Abdul Majeed revealed that he was acting under the directions of one person identified Qazi Mohd Asghar of Hardi Surankote. Later, Police also detained Qazi Mohd Asghar. He said that a case under FIR No 08/2014 under sections 18/40 unlawful activities 120-B of RPC has been registered at Police Station Bus Stand Jammu and further investigation in this regard is in progress. |
