| DAK to shut Hospitals, Casualties across Kashmir | | Sexual assault case | | Javaid Naikoo
Srinagar, Feb 11: The Doctors Association Kashmir DAK today threatened to close down hospitals and casualties across the Kashmir in case the accused former health Minister, Shabir Khan was not put behind the bars soon. The DAK accused the state government of shielding the erring minister. The Amalgam issued a new protest calendar to be implemented from tomorrow onwards across Kashmir. Calling the measures taken so far to arrest the health Minister inadequate, the DAK said that swift action wasn't taken despite the public outcry. "The government has applied a different yardstick in this case," the amalgam said. The DAK urged the Chief minister to ensure immediate arrest of the accused. The DAK said delay in taking action in such cases will discourage others to come forward with similar complaints. The amalgam, which consists of Field Doctors Welfare Association Kashmir, Society of Consultant Doctors, Health and Family Welfare Employees Confederation, JK Dental Surgeons Society, JK State Contractual Doctors Association, NRHM Doctors (MBBS & AYUSH) Association, Doctors and Patient Welfare Association held an important meeting here today where all the members showed their resentment against callous approach of the government in arresting the culprit. Pertinently former Minister Shabir Khan has been accused of molesting a lady doctor in his office in Winter Secretariat last month and after court issued arrest warrant, the minister is on the run. |
