| JMC launches anti adulteration drive, realizes fine of Rs 17,000 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 11: Continuing the drive against the menace of adulteration especially in milk and other food articles an extensive tour in the areas like New Plot, Janipur, Rehari, Subash Nagar, Roop Nagar, Barnai, Bantalab, Muthi of Jammu City was conducted with the team of Food Safety officers alongwith other field staff under the supervision of Dr. Mohd Saleem Khan, Health Officer JMC.
The team inspected various milk and milk products shops, milk vendors, sweetshops, meat and chicken shops, bakery shops, vegetable and fruit shops.
About 3000 litres of milk was checked. Various vendors and the shopkeepers who are not selling milk and other food articles up-to the standards were booked and compounding fee of Rs. 17,000/- was realised on spot and about 2 quental of unwholesome milk also destroyed on spot About 20 Kgs of polythene was also seized. Two samples of Milk and Maida were also lifted from various food establishments within the limits of JMC and sent to Food Analyst, Public Health Laboratory for ascertaining their standard of purity.
All the food establishment owners are warned to ensure supply of pure milk and fresh and good quality of food articles to the general public. Any shopkeeper found selling milk & milk products and other food articles without food licenses will be booked under rules and strict action against the defaulters will be initiated. All the shopkeepers should check the licenses of milk vendors from whom they are purchasing milk for selling. If any shopkeeper found that he has purchased the milk from without licensed vendors, the shopkeeper shall be held responsible and would be penalized. The drive will remain continue and the Jammu Municipal Corporation seeks the cooperation of general public also. |
