Youth Congress hails incorporating 73rd amendment in Panchayati Raj Act

Srinagar, Feb 11: Youth Congress Lok Sabha President Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal Sheikh Aamir Rasool today congratulated the state government for incorporating the 73rd amendment in the J & K Panchayat Raj Act. In press statement said strong Panchayat Raj would now strengthen the governance at the grass root level and will strengthen the democratic institutions in the state. "The youth congress for last one and a half year had been struggling for the empowerment of Panchayat Raj Institutions in the state", said Rasool and lauded the stand taken by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi that made state government to incorporate 73rd amendment in the state Panchayat Raj Act . He said that a strong Panchayat Raj system was the dream of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who brought 73rd and 74th amendment in the Panchayat Raj Act through which maximum powers were given to the Panchayat's throughout the country. He said that Congress party will continue its efforts for incorporation of left out 74th amendment in the said act in future.
