| Govt mulling suspension of MLAs if they continue disruption of proceedings | | Ruckus in Assembly | | Et Report Jammu, Feb 11: Unable to control the agitating members of Assembly over the new administrative units, the government is mulling suspension of some members of the opposition if they continue to disrupt the proceedings of the legislature tomorrow, Assembly in particular where no business could be conducted due to protest staged by all parties in the opposition. The Assembly has to wrap up the scheduled discussion on motion of thanks on Governor's address and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is bound to give reply on the same tomorrow only as budget presentation has been scheduled on Thursday, February 13. As the Assembly witnessed ruckus and unprecedented pandemonium today with almost all members from opposition parties expressing anger over the manner government has finalized new administrative units, no business, not even the question hour could be conducted in the House. However, the government, sources said, is more concerned with carrying on with discussion on Governor's address tomorrow as only two days were fixed for the same out of which one business day has been completely washed away in facing continuous protests of the opposition in unequivocal manner, forcing Speaker to adjourn the House. In order to get some business conducted tomorrow and restore order in the House at least for carrying on with discussion followed by reply of the government as an imperative measure, the government sources say may suspend the members who create ruckus and disrupt the normal proccedings tomorrow, sources said. Sources confirming this action on cards from the government said that the latter has to necessarily get tomorrow's scheduled discussion wrapped up, no matter with fewer number of members participating in it as it cannot be extended for the next day when Finance Minister AR Rather would present budget in the Assembly. Sources said the government is in no mood to get the proceedings disrupted and delayed as a result of continous disruptions and it would complete all vital business on scheduled dates which is why they have decided to suspend the members who would be found creating noisy scenes in the House. |
