Doda relief package issue dominates zero hour

JAMMU, Feb 11: As many as 13 members raised issues of public importance during the Zero Hour in the Legislative Council today.
Naresh Kumar Gupta demanded adequate relief and rehabilitation package for earthquake victims of erstwhile Doda district and violence sufferers of Kishtwar District. Dr. Shehnaz Ganai demanded immediate and adequate relief to the victims of natural calamities of Poonch and Rajouri districts.
Master Noor Hussain drew the attention of Government towards ruthless cutting of trees in Samba district and demanded action against the responsible persons. B R Kundal demanded restoration of work on Mini Secretariat R S Pura to ensure its early completion.
Sham Lal Bhagat called for urgent repairs and renovation of two irrigation canals feeding Jatty and Assar area famous for vegetable production. Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri demanded early rectification of damaged transformers to restore uninterrupted power supply to Mattan area of Anantnag district.Ghulam Nabi Monga called for taking up the matter with the Union Government for intervention to restore cross LoC trade and bringing back drivers who have been retained on the other side of LoC. Showkat Ganai demanded crop compensation for the farmers of Shopian district whose crops got damaged due to hail storm. Jehangir Hussain Mir called for regularization of daily wagers and ReT teachers at the earliest. Syed Rafiq Shah sought direction from the House for ensuring adequate security to him and his family members. He said that recently some unidentified persons at Trehgam attacked one of his family members and sought investigation in the matter. Yashpal Sharma called for curbing corruption and proper utilization of the funds meant for Developmental projects.
Mohammad Muzaffar Parrey raised the issue of stray dogs seeking measures to contain the menace across the State. Abdul Majid Bhat demanded capacity upgradation of the Grid Station Yaripora and streamlining of power tariff.
