Observing strike Budhal residents move to Rajouri, intercepted by administration

Rajouri, Feb 11: Residents of Budhal who are observing indefinite protest dharna for the last 10 days demanding Tehsil status and were heading towards Rajouri were intercepted by the district administration at Kotranka and seek 4 more days time to take up their demand with the higher authorities.
The protesters had decided to sit on fast unto death and indefinite protest before the office of Deputy Commissioner from February 11 and more than 2000 people in the vehicles left Budhal in the vehicles in the morning.
On the direction of Hemant Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Shiv Kumar Additional SP (ASP)and Saleem Malik Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) rushed to Budhal and intercepted the protesters near Kotranka and held talk with their representatives.
On Monday on the 9th day of their protest thousands of people included sarpanches and panches offered court arrest after they took out a rally raising slogans against the Chief Minister, deputy Chief Minister MP and local MLA. The protesters have closed their shops, schools and other establishment and demanding tehsil status for Budhal. They even didn't allow the government offices to and traffic is also off the roads in Budhal area.
People have refused to negotiate with the administration and have decided not to bow or withdraw their demand till it was not conceded by the government. Farooq Inqallabi, a social activist and heading the Budhal Joint Forum (BJF) constituted for the struggle to get tehsil status, is sitting on fast onto death and informed that a deputation of the people of Budhal area today also met with the Chief Minister and discussed the matter with him.
"The deputation included Ch Liyakat, NC leaderTh Puran Singh , former local MLA and former Minister,Iqbal Malik , Congress leaderNazir Ahmed, sarpanch Rajnagar(Budhal) and many others discussed our demand with the Chief Minister who assured the delegation to solve the matter within next 15 days" said Farooq.
He added that Chief Minister has also appealed to withdraw the fast onto death and indefinite protest dharna. Farooq said that the delegation members would be reaching at Budhal in the afternoon on Wednesday and in consultation with them any decision to withdraw the agitation will be taken on Wednesday.
