| Girl allegedly gang-raped at Katra, Police launch hunt | | | ET Report Jammu, Feb 21: A girl allegedly was gang raped by four persons at holy town Katra the base camp of the Holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi here on Friday, police sources said. As per reports, the victim (name withheld) resident of village Nomaien, went to Devi Mai, another locality situated some 8 kilometer away from main township Katra, where she was raped by a group of four persons. Later she managed to escape from their clutches and narrated the incident to her parents. Police sources said, "The parents and her relatives lodged complaint with the nearby police station. Taking cognizance in the matter the local police got the victim medical examined at the District Hospital registered a case against FIR No 45/2014 under section 376 RPC against the accused.' Quoting complainant, the sources said, the accused namely have been identified namely as Ashwani Kumar s/o Tara Chand of Karnah, Varinder Kumar s/o Tirth Ram of Nomaien, Prakash s/o Nath of Nallaha and Kiran Chand s/o Bansi Lal of Udhampur. A massive manhunt is on while Police have conducted different raids at possible hideouts of accused to apprehend the absconding rape accused. |
