| BJP high command to seek support of Panthers Party for LS polls | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 21: Desperate to win both Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province at any cost to achieve the target of 272 Plus, the BJP high command has decided to approach Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) to ensure support of the party for Parliamentary elections. Credible sources in the BJP said that high command is annoyed over the way state unit has been working regarding preparing for the Lok Sabha elections. Instead of seeking support of like minded parties like JKNPP, local BJP leaders are more concerned about getting mandate rather than ensuring victory of party candidates, Credible sources said that some central BJP leaders have opened channel of communication with JKNPP chief Prof Bhim Singh to convince him to withdraw his candidature from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat. BJP central leadership is aware that support of Bhim Singh would ensure victory of party for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat as well as it will help party to get an edge on Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat. In 2009 Lok Sabha elections Bhim Singh as candidate of Panther Party from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha had secured 69463 and BJP candidate Nirmal Singh had lost the seat by a narrow margin of nearly 17,000 votes. Sources said that BJP high command has decided to seek support of Bhim Singh at cost because for smooth sailing of party candidate support of JKNPP is a must. Credible sources said that instead of depending upon local unit, BJP high command has conducted survey from a private company to get authentic feed back. High command has realised that party would be in comfortable position to win the Lok Sabha elections provided BJP managed to get support of JKNPP. |
