| Why has BJP no member in LC? | | | ET Report Jammu, Feb 21: Despite having 11 members in Legislative Assembly, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) for past more than five years hasn't been able to send even a single member from the party to Legislative Council (LC). Whereas the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (NPP) having only three MLAs managed to send one of its members to the upper house. The BJP has failed on all fronts during these five years, be it the case of taking the issues of people of Jammu or Jammu region forward during these years or representing people in state legislature. The BJP in 2008 sought votes from people of Jammu on the name of getting discriminated by the hands of Kashmiri leaders but during these years it was found that all the 11 MLAs of BJP offered to get exploited by these K-centric parties. Be it the case of MLC elections where seven out of 11 MLAs voted in favour of the ruling coalition or giving up the demand for delimitation of the constituencies. The NPP on the other hand has racked up the issue pertaining to the Jammu region and even sent their representative in LC. During the upcoming elections, it will be a major issue as why the BJP was not able to send even a single member to the Upper House where its presence always has remained a big zero. It is only the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and now NPP, who counter government on each and every issue in upper house but BJP has remained out of this august house. |
