Jammu, Feb 22: Two days National workshop sponsored by Government of India (GoI) on training in the field of plant reproductive biology, concluded on Friday in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri. According to press release, the workshop was inaugurated at Center for Biodiversity Studies by Vice Chancellor Prof I A Hamal who interacted with all the participants during the programme and motivated them to take the task of conservation seriously and added that we must take this job seriously. 'Earlier the programme started with a welcome address by Dr Susheel Verma, Associate Professor, Center for Biodiversity Studies and organising secretary of the workshop. He extended a warm welcome to all the participants who had come right from Itanagar to Shillong, Jodhpur, Goa, Ratnagiri, Almora, New Delhi, Jammu and Srinagar. Professor S. K. Barik, the National Coordinator of the programme on prevention of extinction of the species through biotechnological tools gave a brief of the programme and the significance of holding this kind of workshop so that objective of conservation of the species is achieved. Dr Omkar Tiwari, representative of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, Professor R. N. Gohil, Sub coordinator of the project, Prof. A. K. Koul, Dean Academic Affairs, BGSB University and a veteran Botanist of National and International repute, Dr. Shreekar Pant, Assistant Professor, Centre for Biodiversity Studies also spoke on the occasion. Among others who graced the occasion included Prof. Namrata Sharma and Dr Veenu Kaul from University of Jammu, Professor Kadambari Gupta, Professor S. K. Gupta, Colonel K. K. Dogra, Principal Polytechnic and Mohd Ishaq, Controller of examinations BGSBU. |
