JAMMU, Feb 22: Anger is brewing among some senior rank and file of state unit of Indian National Congress, who, while picking holes in the new executive body and list of office bearers of Jammu and Kashmir Pardesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), have alleged that the list was finalized without following any criteria besides the announcements and directions from Congress high command were blatantly violated.
The leaders alleged that relatives and close ones of some party leaders were adjusted as office bearers and executive committee members of new JKPCC. Moreover, the alleged overcrowded Executive Committee has also found names of 12 leaders, who had even contested the previous elections against the Congress party candidates.
Some senior Congress party leaders said that while appointing 12 vice presidents, 25 general secretaries, 52 executive members and 27 Organizing Secretaries, the high command had ignored many senior party leaders, who were not in any faction, which is damaging the base of Congress party in state.
The leaders said that the one man one post formula of party was totally violated by appointing three sitting Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) Mohammad Muzaffar Paray, Bashir Ahmed Magray, Ghulam Nabi Monga as vice presidents of Kashmir valley.
Moreover, 12 leaders who had contested previous elections against Congress candidates were also adjusted as office bearers of new executive committee. "Pankaj Dogra as independent candidate had contested against Congress MLA Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma from Billawar constituency, Naresh Sharma and Babu Singh, both independent candidates from Kathua had contested against Choudhary Lal Singh, Karan Bhagat of National Panthers Party had contested against party candidate Suman Bhagat from RS Pura constituency", the leaders said.
The other leaders are SS Shingari and Ashok Sharma, who had contested from Jammu West Assembly constituency as Independent candidates against senior Congress leader Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, while Prem Lal (Independent) from Hiranagar had contested against Party candidate Girdhari Lal Chalotra, Dr. Satpal of National Bahujan Party and Sardar Manjit Singh on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket had contested from Vijaypur constituency against Congress candidate Thakur Hari Singh.
Ashok Sharma as independent candidate had contested from Kalakote constituency against Choudhary Ab. Gani Kohli, while Balwan Singh as independent candidate had contested election from Marh constituency against Congress leader Pt. Daram Pal Sharma and Shiv Dev Singh had contested from Nagrota constituency against Choudhary Abdul Hamid of Congress party.
The leaders further alleged that Kanta Choudhary, wife of Member Parliament Choudhary Lal Singh was in the list, who had never even as block committee member in the party. Moreover, Karan Bhagat from RS Pura and Irfan Naqeeb from Zadibal Srinagar, who had contested Youth Congress election and had lost even at booth level are also now PCC office bearers.
"Choudhary Abdul Rashid, who had earlier been nominated as State General Secretary of Youth Congress, by getting 28 votes (category), is now nominated as General Secretary in JKPCC. Moreover a complaint, against Choudhary Abdul Rashid and RS Pathania, who is 34 years of age but still nominated as office bearer, is still pending with Rahul Gandhi but are nominated, which is astounding", the leaders alleged.
They further said that in the list of Hari Singh Chib was nominated as organizing secretary and his wife Rajni Bala Chib as Secretary while Darshan Raina and Pawan Raina both brothers, were appointed as General Secretary and Secretary respectively. "Yogesh Verma the personal secretary of RK Dhavan (General secretary of AICC), who is settled in Delhi is also organizing secretary while Kamal Fotedar son of Congress Working Committee member Makhan Lal Fotedar is secretary of PCC, while Habla Kar is kin of Gulam Rasool Kar ex president, Faroza Peerzada relative of State Cabinet Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayed is also in the list", they said.
Moreover, the leaders said, there were some persons, who have been nominated are below 35 years of age, but due to no mass base, had failed to took part in Youth Congress elections last year have become members, only due to their affiliation and business partnership with some senior leaders.
"Narinder Gupta, Jyoti Vaid, S. Karnail Singh Advocate, Neeraj Gupta, Jagdish Kotwal, Rehana, Namrita Sharma, Nisar Ahmed Khan, Shafeeqa Akhter, Ravinder Kotwal, Sonam Namgiyal and Hilal Shah are among this list", they said.
Another startling revelation came to fore that inspite of more population and constituencies in Kashmir province, less number of office bearers of JKPCC are nominated for Kashmir while more in Jammu.
"7 Vice presidents are nominated for Jammu against 5 in Kashmir province, 16 general secretaries for Jammu against 8 in Kashmir, 18 organizing secretaries for Jammu against 9 in Kashmir, 37 secretaries for Jammu, 12 for Kashmir, 33 executive members for Jammu against 17 in Kashmir province", they maintained.
