Degree College Kishtwar headless for 3 months

Kishtwar, Feb 22 : The Higher Education Department headed by Mohammad Akbar Lone has failed to post a Principal in Government Degree College Kishtwar lying vacant since last nearly three months. The problem has subjected the staffers to inconvenience as no salary could be drawn during the aforementioned period.
As per the details available with "Early Times", College Principal Dr. Shafqat was transferred in the month of November last year and since then the Higher Education Department failed to appoint a fresh Principal for the college. As per the insiders, not only the teaching and non teaching staff have suffered but various college related developmental works also suffered.
"Approximately Rs. 30 lacs funds were available for college fencing, black topping of roads inside college premises, grading, up gradation of Library/laboratory and other developmental workers--but due to non posting of Principal college, these funds will be lapsed at the end of March in case the government did not fill the vacancy", said one college employee wishing anonymity.
He said that present college management has also intimated the local politicians about posting of Principal in college, but nothing was done so far with regard to posting of new principal. He said that though Surinder Sen is college in charge Principal, but he has no drawing and disbursing power as a result of which he cannot withdraw the salaries of college employees, beside cannot take a decision with
regard to various developmental and other college related activities. Other college employees while speaking to "Early Times" urged upon the concern minister to take immediate step with regard to appointment of college principal so that the college works functions without any hindrance.
It is pertinent to mention the Kishtwar got a college in the year 1974 after a long public agitation in which four local youths scarifies their lives.
