| Body of drowned youth fished out | | | | Rajouri, Feb 22: Police today claimed to have recovered the body of one of two youth after three days who were drowned while collecting sand from the river near Pir Jalali village about 5 kilometers from Noushera. Police said that two youth hailing from Kewal in Budhal area were engaged by the PHE department in the construction of a canal at Pir Jalali. " On Thursday at about 4 pm both the youth had gone to collect sand from the river bed and one of them slipped and washed away, police said while adding, "in a bid to save his colleague other youth identified as Mohd Liyaqat jumped into water and was washed away too in powerful current of water. People immediately informed the police and a police party from Noushera rushed to the village and after hectic search operations of about 6 hours long, the search team could fish out the bodies from water on Thursday. However during search operationFriday the body of Mohd Iqbal was fished out while the body of other youth identified as Mohd Kabeer s/o Shah Mohd was fished out today. After postmortem and other legal formalities the bodies of the youth were handed over to family members for their last rites. Meantime concerned police has started inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC. |
