Dogri film Geetiyan running successfully

Jammu, Mar 9: 'Geetiyan' (pebbles)-the first action Dogri film based on 'gangwars' in late 1980s in the winter capital has finally succeeded in attracting the youth to the cinemas.
The Dogri film, which hit the silver screen on February 28, has changed the trend of visiting the cinema theatres especially among the youngsters. Based on the stimulating life and behavioural characteristics of gangsters prevalent during the era of 1980 in Jammu, 'Geetiyan' is a breathtaking sequence along with composed depiction of Dogra culture prevailing during those times is the main attraction of the film.
The movie is inspired from the true incidents based on analogy of a simple friendship which turned into unique blend of camaraderie in the 'City of Temples'.
Being the first action movie in the regional language, 'Geetiyan', not only has succeeded in bringing the youth to the theatres but also received applauds from the people of Jammu.
''The movie is inspired from the 'gangwars' of the late 80s in the 'City of Temples' and this time initiative has been taken to capture the audience,'' Rahul Sharma, the Director of the movie said.
He said that it took four to five years to work on the project and highlighting the local touch was the idea behind the theme, adding, ''familiar faces not only from the local industry but also from Bollywood like 'Apaharan' and 'Gangajal' fame Yash Sharma and Ganesh Yadav have been introduced for the first time in the Dogri movie to add on spice to the film.''
Other artists who acted in this movie include Arvind Kumar, Shankar Bhan, Mushtak Kak, Mahesh Puri, Surinder Goel, Master Akram, Deepak Braru, Subash Jamwal, Raj Kumar Bhat, Sanjeev Gupta, Ragunandan Bali, Sher Singh and Vidya Bushan, etc.
''It is the right time when Dogri Cinema is coming out of infancy and the opportunity should be well used to yield and hone the local talent for the cause,'' Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma said.
'' Geetiyan possesses all the ingredients required for a successful movie that too in Jammu's very own and sweetest language 'Dogri' and the success of regional cinema mainly depends on the mood of the people of the region and regional governments' support,'' said the actor.
Geetiyan has been produced and made under the banner of Bees Carving Directs with head banner of Saar Films Entertainment and produced by Dar Communications, Angular Films and Film Waves with Arun Sharma, Tazeem Dar, Megha Sharma and Sunil Bandral as its producers.
Ravi Shanker is the executive producer and Shashi Gupta is choreographer of the film. Local artist Tanveer Dar along with local girl Tejasvani Sharma, are in the lead roles in the movie.
The songs have been sung by Suresh Wadkar and Javed Ali while the music is composed by Arvind Kumar.
