Nirmal under pressure to contest as Independent candidate

JAMMU, Mar 9: Although incharge of J&K BJP Avinash Rai Khanna has tried to pacify annoyed BJP leader Dr Nirmal Singh, yet he (Dr Nirmal Singh) is facing pressure from his supporters to contest election as Independent candidate from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat.
Today a number of youth from Ramban, Banihal, Bhaderwah, Doda and Kishtwar called on Dr Nirmal Singh and asked him to come forward to contest Lok Sabha elections.
Credible sources close to Dr Nirmal Singh said that youth asked Dr Nirmal Singh that BJP leadership has humiliated him badly so it will be unwise on his part to remain in that party. Singh's supporters tried to convince him that due to opposition of some central leader and some local leaders, he would not be allowed to work in the party in future also so it is better to call it a day and explore other options. These supporters assured Dr Nirmal Singh that there is strong sympathy wave in his favour so he should come forward and take benefit of sympathy wave.
Dr Nirmal Singh's supporters quoted media reports which suggested that anti-Modi group within BJP has identified some winnable seats to field weak candidates so that party could not achieve the magic figure of 272. Appreciated concerned showed by his supporters, Dr Nirmal Singh disclosed that he has brought this matter to the notice of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. He said that he brought to the notice of Modi that he was denied mandate only to facilitate victory of Congress candidate on Udhampur-Doda seat. He told his supporters that he was hopeful that party would give due considerations to the issues raised by him.
Source close to Dr Nirmal Singh said that he has not made any commitment with his supporters but made it clear that he would not allow "Jai Chands" to take control of the party. He told his supporters that he would disclose his future course of action after taking up this issue with some central leaders of BJP who had assured to take his case with those who matters.
Meanwhile highly credible sources said that today a meeting of the representatives of various organisations affiliated with BJP and RSS was held at Trikuta Nagar to chalk-out strategy for the elections. During the meeting workers made it clear to their leaders that they would work only for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat and would not utilize their energy on Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat. In the meeting workers expressed their strong resentment against decision of the BJP high command for ignoring a dedicated leader Dr Nirmal Singh, who worked on Udhampur-Doda seat for nearly four years.
