| Huge hoarding in praise of Minister's 'Landmark achievement' | | Is Election Commission watching? | | Abodh Sharma
Jammu, Mar 9: A huge hoarding that has come up in the city in praise of the 'landmark achievement' of the Minister for Housing and MLA Gandhinagar Raman Bhalla seems to have escaped the eye of the Election Commission as it is blatant violation of the Model Code of Conduct that was enforced in the state as all across the country on March 5. The hoarding portrays the Minister alongside the sketch of the 'landmark' project of an Auditorium and Teachers' Bhawan along with the cost of the project suggesting that the project has been sponsored and funded by the Minister alone. While informed sources believe that the hoarding is in gross violation of the model code of conduct, it has escaped any action from the Election office till now. Sources disclose that efforts are being made by the politicians and especially by the ruling coalition to violate MCC to gain maximum electorate benefits. Though Election office took cognizance of the transfers of teachers through post dated orders and ordered cancellation of all such orders which were reportedly being affected on the behest of another Minister, an officer of the rank of inspector was posted as SHO Samba, allegedly on the behest of Home Minister despite the fact that the officer has been heavily indicted in number of cases. Though the order of his posting as SHO was issued a day before the imposition of the MCC, it was in clear violation of the ECI guidelines communicated by the GAD vide its circular no. 05-GAD of 2014 dated 21.1.2014 wherein it specified that any official who has any case pending any case against him in a court of law should not be assigned any duty during elections. |
