| Denied mandate from Doda-Kathua -Udhampur, Dr Nirmal Singh may walk out of BJP | | Party rank and file forlorn | | Sandeep Bhat
Jammu, Mar 9: Taken aback by the denial of mandate to contest from Doda-Kathua -Udhampur Parliamentary seat, former president of the state BJP, Dr. Nirmal Singh may walk out of the party and if sources close to him can be believed, he might walk into the ideologically opposed PDP. Sources disclose that Nirmal Singh, who has lost close battles against Madan Lal of the Congress from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary seat and against Raman Bhalla from Gandhinagar Assembly seat was expecting party mandate from Doda-Kathua -Udhampur Parliamentary seat and had been camping there along with his wife, a leader of the party's women wing has gone ex communico since then. Sources further added that Nirmal Singh is determined to contest elections from the Doda-Kathua -Udhampur Parliamentary seat even he has to cross fences to join PDP or AAP. "He might even contest as an independent" a close aide of Nirmal Singh disclosed. Meanwhile, the simmering resentment among party men regarding the selection of candidates surfaced on Friday when party's North India Prabari Avinash Rai Khanna was held hostage for hours together. Talking to Early Times, Senior leader and advisor to BJP Prof. Hari Om expressed ignorance on the issue. However, on condition of anonymity another senior leader said, "he has been given mandate for both Assembly as well as Parliamentary elections several times but every time he failed. As long as he was given candidature, BJP was the best party". Pertinently, resentment is also brewing amongst the party rank and file over the name of the party candidate for the Jammu -Poonch seat as well and many even think that there is conspiracy to field weak candidates against Congress candidates to ensure their victory. |
