Jammu, Mar 9: Ahead of 2014 general elections, the rift within the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) over denial of mandate from Kathua -Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary seat has further deepened as the supporters of Dr. Nirmal Singh held a strong protest at Kathua seeking ticket for him. As per the details, Dr. Nirmal Singh supporters blocked the road at Muthi Jaggir on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway and disrupted vehicular movement.. The protesters belonged to youth wing of the party. The angry supporters of Dr. Nirmal Singh raised slogans against party leadership. They also chanted "Dr. Nirmal Singh Nahi Toh BJP Nahi (If there is no ticket for Dr. Nirmal Singh--- then there will be no BJP") slogans. The agitating workers blamed the state party leadership for denial of ticket to him. They said that Dr. Nirmal was earlier told by the party leadership to carry on with his campaign, but added that later some party leaders hatched conspiracy against him and managed to sideline his candidature from Kathua -Udhampur-Doda constituency on which he (Dr. Nirmal Singh) lost the last election with narrow margin. All the agitators demanded immediate restoration of party ticket in favour of Dr. Nirmal Singh and threaten to intensify the agitation in case the same was denied. It is pertinent to mention here that BJP has announced party National Spokesperson Dr. Jatindra Singh from Kathua -Udhampur-Doda and party state President Jugal Kishore from Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch Parliamentary constituency. |
