Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 9: Addressing a series of meetings at Khour, Tok Khalsa and Sunail Akhnoor on Sunday, BJP candidate for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency & party state president Jugal Kishore Sharma demanded Supreme Court- monitored CBI probe in the Rs 25 thousand crore "Roshini Scam" in Jammu and Kashmir. He said when the Roshni scheme was introduced during the regime of Ghulam Nabi Azad -led Congress rule, the land under illegal encroachment was 10 thousand kanals and after the implementation of the scheme, 10 thousand more kanals of land was looted by the ruling elite, land mafia and political persons close to the establishment. He said the Ghulam Nabi Azad government and the government of Omar Abdullah have caused immense financial loss to the state exchequer by misusing official positions to benefit the vested interests. "Supreme Court-monitored CBI inquiry alone could bring Gulam Nabi Azad and Omar Abdullah to Justice", Jugal said. Jugal Kishore Sharma also lambasted the NC-Congress ruling coalition for its anti-people and anti-democratic stand on Delimitation Commission and said it is this that has denied the people of Jammu province due representation to the people of Jammu Province in the Lok Sabha. To make his point, he said that while Jammu returns two members to the Lok Sabha from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda and Jammu-Poonch constituencies at the rate of 17.63 lakh plus electorates and 11.52 lakhs votes respectively, Kashmir returns three members to the Lok Sabha from Srinagar-Budgam, Baramulla-kupwara and Anantnag-Pulwama at the rate of 11.71 lakhs, 11.52 lakh and 12.72 voters respectively. He said it is gross injustice with the people of Jammu province in the sense that Kashmir has three Lok Sabha seats for 35 lakh votes, Jammu province has 2 Lok Sabha seats for 32 lakh plus votes.
Commenting on the situation in Akhnoor Tehsil, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the Congress has converted it into its fiefdom with the non-Congress population at the receiving end of the Congress. He told the people that it is the most opportune time for them to teach the Congress and NC a lesson and vote for BJP and its Prime Ministerial Candidate Narendra Modi for the larger national interest and overall development of the state
