| J&K Gujjar, Bakerwal organization stages protest | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 9 : The Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar Bakerwal Conference today staged a protest in front of Governor's House in favour of their long pending demands. The protest was led by senior leaders of the conference including its State President, General Secretary, Senior Vice President, District Presidents and District General Secretaries from all over the State. The main demands raised by the Gujjar Bakerwal Conference on this occasion demanded that political reservation should be provided to the Gujjars and Bakerwals and at least 16 Assembly Constituencies wherein these people have more than 33% population should be reserved for Gujjars and Bakerwals Scheduled Tribe. "A separate Gujjar regiment in the Army be raised and the youth of the community be provided an opportunity to serve the nation, Gojri language be included in the eighth schedule of constitution of Indian constitution, Gojri news bulletin be started from A.I.R. and Doordarshan New Delhi and Jammu and Srinagar stations", said Gujjar leader Anwar Chowdhary. Haji Yaqoob Ahmed said that the funds provided by the Union Government for the development of the Gujjar Bakerwals (ST) communities be spent exclusively on them and the practice of misusing this money be stopped forthwith. |
