| Weaker sections, refugees ignored under NC-Cong rule: Jugal | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, March 11: State President Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and nominated candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma today alleged National Conference-Congress government of ignoring weaker sections of the society including SCs, STs, OBC community members and different refugees who have settled in the Jammu part of the state. Jugal was addressing corner meetings at Bantalab, Lower Roop Nagar, Gharota, Amb, Sua no. 1, Dayaran, Barnai and Akalpur areas of Raipur-Domana assembly constituency. He said it is strange that due reservation share to SC category is being denied in recruitment as well as in promotions. The funds which are sent to the state by the centre under Special Component Plan for the development of the SC populated towns and villages is being diverted to other sectors and the result is that this community even today lives in medieval ages. He also expressed his unhappiness over the fact that while the OBCs are entitled to 27% reservation in the rest of the country, in Jammu and Kashmir they are not entitled to even one per cent reservation. "This is utterly unacceptable," said Jugal Kishore Sharma. Sharma also lambasted the NC and the Congress government for its negative attitude towards the Refugees from West Pakistan and POJK and said the failure of the State Government to grant citizenship rights to the refugees from West Pakistan and give due compensation to the refugees from POJK for the properties they left behind in 1947 only proves that its approach towards these victims of extremism and communalism. "The claim of the NC- Congress coalition government that it is secular, democratic, fair, and people-centric is hollow. The NC and the Congress are two parties, besides the PDP, which have only vitiated the socio-religious and political atmosphere of the State to pander to their communal constituencies at the cost of the general public and the State. The NC and the Congress have, instead of handing down to the people a responsive, transparent, accountable and corruption free administration, all along indulged in negative politics and the result is that there is widespread discontent and disaffection prevailing across the state of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh," he said. Jugal was accompanied by Jammu-poonch Parliamentary Constituency Incharge Yudhvir Sethi, Local MLA Bharat Bhushan, Senior leader Bansi Lal Bharti, SC Morcha State President Surinder Bhagat, BJYM Vice President Ashish Sareen, Sarpanch Narinder Singh and Ravi Sharma. |
