| Congress deviated from Mahatama's policies: Mir | | Lone accuses successive Governments of present mess in State | | Early Times Report SUMBAL (GANDERBAL), Mar 11: Turning tables on successive State Governments, Peoples' Conference today blamed them of the present messand unrest in the State. Addressing a mammoth public rally here today Peoples Conference chairman, Sajjad Gani Lone today asked the people to launch a decisive battle against the NC, Congress and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which were responsible for the present mess in the State. Lone said that situation would have been different in the State had these parties come to the expectations of the masses and fulfilled their aspirations. Stressing into overall change in the system he said the people of the Sate have rise to the occasion and extend full cooperation to People Conference in changing the system so that the State is put back on rails and people's problems on democratic institutions is restored. The PC supremo said that due to the wrong policies of the Government the people have lost their total confidence in democratic institutions in the State and the prevailing unrest is the root cause of the same. Some selected families have been benefitted by the successive governments in the State while the common man has been left in lurch. Lone said that hollow and emotional slogans can't break stones but it is the pragmatic and a realistic approach towards the problem which can pay dividends. PC Vice Chairman Mohammed Kamal Malik, Sumbal Sonawari block chief, Qamam-ud-Din Shilvati and District Ganderbal coordinator Mir Ghulam Rassol Butwani addressed the rally. Mir Ghulam Rasool while targeting the Congress and NC said that both parties have given nothing to people except dynastic rule. The leaders of two parties exploited the masses on the name of socialism and secularism and in turn gave scams, corruption, authoritarianism and dynastic rule. He said that Congress has totally deviated from the policies of Mahatma Gandhi and the sacrifices of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Chander Shekhar Azad and others have been totally neglected . These leaders laid down their lives to bring happiness and cheerfulness on the faces of millions of Indians to bring democracy in the country and take the power to the door steps of people, he added. But in turn the Congress negated this all and its leaders looted the nation with two hands. They exploited the people's sentiments by giving hollow slogans by raking up such sensitive and emotive issues which suited them from time to time. It was Congress which disbanded NC Government in 1953 in the State and later again handed over the reins of Government to it in 1975.Supporting the NC Government for two years Congress withdrew Support to it in 1977 and later over threw the NC Government again in 1984. He said for sake of power Congress can stoop to any level as the Party can join with NC or PDP to suit its own political interests as it never cared for larger national interests or interests of the people of the State. |
