Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 11: The Centre has alerted the state of possible terror strike in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. The warning has been given after deadly naxal attack in Chattisgarh in which 15 security personnel were killed on Tuesday. "The centre has given stringent warning to the police. It has also sounded about the possible terrorist groups and the top terrorist commander who might carry out attack. A joint operations with the Army will be launched soon at many places based on the intelligence inputs," said a senior police official, wishing not to be named.
The intelligence agencies have been constantly warning the State government about the growing nexus and coordination between Naxalites and terrorists operating in the state. The intelligence agencies said the inputs coming from the naxal hit states have suggested that terrorists and naxalites will start terrorist attacks at the same time.
"The input suggests that there is very strong possibility of terror strikes in the State and to stop them the counter insurgency operations have been re-devised, and top commanders being chased down effectively," said the police official.
The Governor in his address to the joint session of Assembly had warned of possible strikes in the coming parliamentary and state elections. The reference by the Governor in his address, which is reflection of the state government policies and fears, had suggested of possible danger to thwart elections.
The Army has also in its intelligence inputs suggested that terrorists from the across the border will be pushed in the state with specific aim of targeting politicians and polling station.
The police and intelligence officials said the growing poll percentage in the State in the last state and parliamentary elections, and more so in the panchayt election has rattled the terrorist handlers across the border and this time they are desperate that that people stay from the polling booth.
"We know the game plan of terrorist handlers across the border. We have also radio intercepts in this regard. They may push in more and large number of terrorists but security personnel are equally prepared for the task of outmaneuvering them," said the police official.
