Srinagar, Mar 11: Keeping all speculation aside in connection with nomination of a state congress candidate for Lok sabha elections from Ladakh division, Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai said that it is simply Kargil versus Leh this time as the nomination is taking ugly turns due to indifference and opposition from state congress workers.
As the nomination of candidate for one seat of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Ladakh division of Jammu and kashmir is yet to be decided following the controversy over nomination of the candidate among state congress workers, Chief executive councilor of Ladakh auntonomous Hill development councillor (LAHDC) of Kargil district Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai while talking to Early Times on phone today said that, decision of nomination of candidate is getting tough with every passing day as according to him instead of supporting nomination of one particular candidate of congress from whole Ladakh division, workers from Leh district this time are supporting their own local candidates to contest elections on congress mandate.
" Though I know decision would come in my favour soon this time but due to opposition and difference in opinion it is Kargil versus Leh over nomination of candidate for Lok sabha elections"said Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai.
He said that though he is all alone from Kargil district backed by all congress workers of the area and waiting for his nomination eagerly, however from Leh district two more candidates namely T.Sampal, member of Minority commission of the country and Rigzin Spalbar present chief Executive councilor of LAHDC Leh District are also interested to contest Lok Sabha election from Ladakh division on congress mandate.
According to sources, decision to choose one candidate from Ladakh division is also shelved as T.Sampal and Rigzin Spalbar of Leh district who are also struggling for their nomination do not support each other However both of these candidates being well aware of the close association of Haji Asgar Ali Karabalai with congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and many other core group congress workers of the country are using all their means to get a chance to contest lok Sabha elections.
Pertinently as National conference (NC) and Congress formed an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and finalized seat sharing agreement for Jammu and Kashmir divisions already and though NC has already announced its candidates which include Farooq Abdullah from Srinagar, Mehboob Beg from South and Sharif-ul-Din Shariq from North Kashmir, however state Congress which is though likely to repeat its candidates Madan Lal Sharma from Jammu and Chowdhary Lal Singh from Udhampore seats, due to ongoing controversy prevailing over nomination of candidate from Ladakh division, state congress is yet to announce its candidate from Ladakh division of the state to contest lok Sabha elections for congress.
