| Farooq led JKGA represents Gymnastics | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, March 11: Led by patron in chief, Union Minister, Farooq Abdullah, the Jammu and Kashmir Gymnastics Association (JKGA) is the true representative of the game in the state. This was stated by general secretary of the Association and former Chief Sports Officer of the J&K State Sports Council, Ajit Singh Wazir while refuting the false claims made by certain individuals with regard to formation of a new body that too through nominations and not elections. Castigating such individuals for disseminating wrong information to the general masses through a section of the print media, the general secretary said that the action has brought a bad name to the most medal winning discipline of gymnastics in the state. "The elections of the JKGA held in 2009 at Srinagar, following the laid down constitution under the supervision of Gymnastics Federation of India and J&K State Sports Council," informed Ajit Singh Wazir. On being approached, the officer concerned in the regulatory body of State Sports Council disclosed that the organization has recognized the Association which has the affiliation of the Gymnastics Federation of India. "We recognize the body led by general secretary, Ajit Singh Wazir and it is the only body which has affiliation with Gymnastics Federation of India and approval of the Indian Olympic Association and Government of India," said the Council official. It may be recalled here that a section of the press had reported nomination of new body of the Gymnastics Association by already elected president.
