Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 18: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader Ved Mahajn today said that Centre has blocked funds for the centrally sponsored schemes due to failure of the state government to conduct civic bodies' elections, which in turn is affecting development. He said that people of urban areas are suffering for want of basic amenities due to mal-administration and nepotism.During his door-to-door campaign for Yashpal Sharma, candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat, in ward number 2 of Jammu East Assembly segment along with leaders of the party, he interacted with cross sections of the people at Jullakha Mohalla and other areas of ward number 2 and listened to their problems. He regretted that most of the government sponsored schemes failed to yield expected results in the urban areas due to mal-administration and corruption at grass root level. He said that on the one hand government has not conducted civic bodies' elections while on the other hand bureaucracy has failed to implement schemes, which are meant for the development of urban areas. He was accompanied by District President R K Bali, Vikram Singh, Chaman Angral, E Peter, Rafiq Malik, Sihit Sharma, Sonu Saini, Bittoo Pradhan, Sachin Sharma, Vinod, Brij Mehra, Ramesh Tak, Girish Sharma and otheres, While interacting with people, Mahajan expressed his concern over rampant corruption in the administration and said that there was no transparency and accountability in the government departments and those at the helm of the affairs has been blatantly looting the public exchequer. He said that the government has failed to keep a check on corruption and nepotism. He said that people have been facing hardships due to such policies of the government. He said that every section of the society has been suffering due to the misdeeds of this regime headed by Omar Abdullah. |
