| Omar's `golden era' won JK most corrupt state title | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 18: Even as the Lok Sabha elections are drawing closer, the National Conference (NC) leaders are trying their best to project Omar's regime as a golden era of development. However, the ground situation narrates an entirely different story. The truth about National Conference led coalition Government's developmental activities came to fore in June, 2011 when Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram visited the summer capital. He took the administration for a `ride' around old city. And during his `joyride' around the old city he sought reasons for dilapidated roads and drains. He was told that no developmental work could be undertaken last year due to unrest. However, no reasons were given for not undertaking the works during the calm that prevailed this year. Curiously it was during the current regime that the state `won' the `honour' of the most corrupt state in India. Srinagar which according to Omar is the face of Jammu Kashmir was declared the third dirtiest city of the country. Veteran Congressman, ML Fotedar during his Srinagar visit of 2011 rated Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as the best Chief Minister state has ever had. A poor man from Lachmanpora, Batmaloo who lost his daughter during the last year's agitation during Omar' regime, according to Ali Mohammad Omar's regime has been an era of broken bones and shattered window panes. Pertinent to mention here that 120 persons, mostly school going children got killed last year. "If this is development, the people of Jammu Kashmir do not need it", he said. |
