| POJK part of Pakistan, shows AAP's map | | Referendum in Kashmir | | Neha JAMMU, Mar 18: Days after senior party leader Prashant Bhushan unleashed a national outrage over his repeated assertion that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) believes in holding a referendum in Kashmir valley on the Army's presence there and that Kashmir be allowed to go out of India if the referendum result shows that the people of Kashmir do not want to live with India, the AAP has courted yet another controversy by showing part of Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in Pakistan on its website. According to reports, the world map on the AAP's website showed PoJK in Pakistan instead of India. However, after being denounced on social media by the nationalists over the issue, the party quickly replaced it with some other map. Now, the AAP has come out with an explanation that it was not the actual map of India and that it was just used to show donations which party is getting. "It is not the actual map of India. Parts shown in green show the part of India where most of the party are getting donation," said a tweet below the map. Notwithstanding this explanation, the fact remains that the AAP showed in its map POJK part of Pakistan and this should be construed as a lapse. This should only indicate what they think about Jammu and Kashmir. There are many persons in the party who are the supporters of pro-Pakistan separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Persons like Prashant Bhushan, Medha Patkar and Kamal Mitra Chenoy are only some of them. They have been hobnobbing not only with the Maoist terrorists for years now, but also with Kashmiri separatists and airing anti-India views. They have been, like the Kashmiri separatists and other Kashmiri leaders, including those belonging to the ruling National Conference, have been demanding withdrawal of the Army from Kashmir and revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) that gives a legal immunity to the armed forces who have been charged with the responsibility of combating terrorism and insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere in the country where the Maoists/Naxalites are quite active. It bears recalling that only a few days ago, Prashant Bhushan had demanded a referendum in the Red Corridor to know if the people of this Naxalite-infested belt (red Corridor) want the AFSPA or not - a suggestion that was roundly condemned by many. PoJK is legitimately Indian and not one but three unanimous Parliamentary resolutions have said so. It is disturbing that we have in the country persons like Bhushan, Chenoy and Patkar who have been giving legitimacy to the politics of secessionism and communalism. They need to be isolated and brought to justice. |
