| Sulking Lal Singh creates furore in New Delhi | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 18: In what could be termed as major embarrassment for J&K Congress, Member Parliament (MP) from Udhampur-Doda constituency Choudhary Lal Singh has trained guns at party high command in New Delhi, threatening to contest as Independent. Though exact reasons for his change of stance could not be ascertained but sources said that he has accused the Congress high command of victimising him. They added that it is due to this new stance of Lal Singh which has resulted in Congress delaying naming of candidate for Doda-Udhampur parliamentary constituency. Sources further said that New Delhi has already told Lal Singh to return to Jammu and start campaign in favour of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. They added that Lal Singh is still camping in New Delhi and has threatened to contest as independent on Doda-Udhampur seat, citing discrimination with Jammu region and demanding fare share in existing power structure in J&K. This new stance of Lal Singh is surprising since he is considered extremely close to ex-Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is set to be announced as candidate from Doda-Udhampur constituency by Wednesday evening. Sources maintained that Ghulam Nabi Azad has given his consent for fighting Lok Sabha polls from J&K to the party high command and there is no question of considering Lal Singh. |
