TNWS expresses concern over digging of roads by Reliance Jio

Jammu, Mar 25 : Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS) has expressed deep concern over enmass digging of main roads and lanes throughout Trikuta Nagar for laying fiber cable byMukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio infocomm for 4G Broad Band service.Members showed their resentment over digging of 4-5 feet deep trenches in front of their main gates and road crossings and not repairing the dugout trenches to enable them to come out of their houses. Their cars remained parked inside/outside their houses for 2-3 days. On enquiry the agency carrying out the work gave no assurance about proper restoration of the damaged roads. Vikram Gour President TNWS Vikram Gour President TNWS informed the members that he had taken up the matter with Reliance Jio who informed that they have taken permission from Chief Engineer, R&B after paying about Rs 20-crores to the deptt for carrying out repair work of the damaged roads. In support they showed only a 'Memorandum of Understanding' (no formal order) with the CE R&B to carry out the work. Further enquiries from the CE, R&B revealed that Reliance Jio has paid the estimated amount for restoration work including black topping of the roads. The CE, R&B said that they will be responsible for repairing the damaged roads after the work is finished.The members expressed their anxiety over delay in repair work in view of the consistent rains that have spread mud and stones all around the dug up area. Members wanted immediate repair of the damaged roads and clearance of the 'Malba' obstructing the free movement. The members decided to meet the CE, R&B to impress upon him that work should be taken up in fair weather alone without causing any inconvenience to general public. TNWS further wanted all concerned departments like B.S.N.L, P.H.E, P.D.D, J.M.C.& J.D.A. etc. to inform the society or to general public before allotment of such type of works for avoiding inconvenience to general public.
