| SHRC takes cognizance of ET report, seeks appearance of MS on March 29 | | Forcible discharge of ailing toddler | | Avinash Azad Jammu, Mar 24: Taking cognizance of Early Times report titled 'Ailing toddler discharged forcibly' published on March 21, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) served notice to Medical Superintendent, Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu seeking his personal appearance before it on March 29, 2014. The Commission also directed Medical Superintendent, GMC Jammu to examine the child. According to SHRC order, the matter was placed before the Division Bench of the commission comprising chairperson Rafiq Fida and SHRC's Member S Amolak Singh. The commission while perusing the case observed failure on the part of hospital authorities at Super Specialty Hospital Jammu which prima-facie amounts to grave human rights violation. "Let in the first instance notice be served to MS, SSH Jammu who be directed to appear in person on March 29, 2014. Copy of complaint along with the supporting material will be provided to him to file his personal response. Meanwhile, MS GMC, Jammu is directed to examine the patient who is a minor boy and provide him proper medicare instantly", the order read. "As per the case detail, Karnail Singh resident of Balmadkote of district Reasi, belongs to a far flung area; his son Sudesh who had developed some critical problems in his finger reached SSH Jammu on March 5, but was admitted on March 12 where doctors advised surgery to him", the order read, adding that only after giving an injection he had been discharged on March 20, 2014. "He (Sudesh) was not provided due medical care in the hospital. The story came in detail in Early Times dated March 21, 2014 under title SSH doctors neglect, apathy climaxes-Ailing toddler discharged forcibly". SHRC order maintained. |
