| Cong raises objections over 'misleading' nomination paper, Sahu seeks details | | Dansal murder case haunts BJPs Jugal Kishore | | Kunal Shrivatsa
JAMMU, Mar 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s state president and its official candidate for Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma is in a spot of bother since objections have been raised by the Congress over his 'misleading' nomination paper. Sources informed Early Times that while scrutiny of the nomination papers of the candidates contesting from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat was going on today, Advocate Hukam Chand Basotra on behalf of Congress nominee Madan Lal Sharma filed an objection before Returning Officer AK Sahu that the BJP candidate Jugal Kishore has failed to make a mention of the pending investigation against him in connection with a murder case. Sources said that the Congress nominee's Advocate Basotra said that since the Court had ordered a re-investigation into the case in 2007 after Jugal Kishore's name was allegedly omitted from the FIR lodged with the police adding that police have yet to submit a fresh report in the case before the Court. Advocate Basotra further pleaded that it is mandatory for a contesting candidate to file an affidavit mentioning any pending inquiry, status of the case or any conviction pronounced by a court of law but the BJP candidate in his nomination paper didn't mention the ongoing investigation he is facing in a murder case. After listening to the objections and points of Congress candidate's Counsel Basotra, the Retuning Officer Sahu directed him to submit a counter affidavit along with evidence with respect to the allegations levelled against the BJP candidate. Source revealed that the Congress may file the counter affidavit along with valid proofs of the murder case having alleged involvement of BJP candidate Jugal Kishore. It is pertinent to mention here that Jugal Kishore Sharma is facing criminal case in alleged murder of one Raj Singh of Kathar in Manwal of Dansal Block, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on March 30, 1999. Manwal police recovered Raj Singh's body near Tawi bridge and later it was established that he was murdered. Accordingly, a case under FIR number 44 of 1999 under section 302 RPC was registered in Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation was started. Dissatisfied with the police investigations, the Court has passed the stricture against the police officers and ordered the police to re-investigate the case thoroughly and interrogate the accused. |
