| People protest against CAPD | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Mar 24: Inhabitants of several areas including urban and rural in Rajouri district have organized protests against the acute shortage of ration at government shops during the last few months. Sugar ,rice and atta was not supplied to these shops by the Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD) department for the last more than month even in Rural areas and people were forced to purchase these items from the markets on triple rates which had badly affected the monthly budged of middle class families.After a gap of about one month the ration was supplied to these shops few days ago but it went out of stock within two days and those who couldn't come in time once again forced to purchase ration from markets. Inhabitants of village Kewal to which the former Minister Th Puran Singh belong, have organized a protest on Monday and alleged that despite several representations to the higher authorities of CA&PD department the supply to their village was not restored even a gap of more than two months. People lead by Mohd Mustaq and others have warned the authorities to block the Rajouri-Budhal road if the ration supply was not restored within next few days. Meanwhile protests were also held at various places in Rajouri, Thanamndi, Manjakot , Darhal, Sunderbani tehsils and people have criticized the officials of CA&PD department for their failure to provide ration to the poor people of the district. |
