JAMMU, Mar 25: In an attempt to prove loyalty to the coalition candidate for Jammu-Poonch constituency, Madan Lal Sharma, rival groups of National Conference clashed with each other in Mendhar leaving dozens injured.
As per sources, Vice-Chairman of Legislative Council (LC) Javed Rana and another NC leader Showkat Choudhary, President Sarpanches Association had organized two different meetings in Salwah Mendhar in support of the coalition candidate for the Jammu-Poonch constituency Madan Lal Sharma and the moment the supporters of Javed Rana with drum beaters arrived on the site, the supporters clashed.
The clash left scores injured. Gauging the seriousness of the situation, SHO Mendhar Bishnesh Kumar and SDPO Surinder Choudhary rushed to the spot to control the situation. Two injured have been identified as Wazir Khan, post office employee and Mohd Razak, an ex-serviceman who got admitted in SDH Mendhar for treatment.
The police said cross FIRs have been lodged by the rival groups. Police have launched investigation. |
