After BOPEE, PSC losing credibility thick and fast

SRINAGAR, Apr 2: The state government seems to have learnt no lesson after conscious shaking developments took place in the state from time to time. The memories of the shameful acts of Mushtaq Ahmad Peer and company will never expunge from the minds of the people especially those who have been the victims of the infamous CET scam.

People in general ask as to how much transparent the selections are made by the Public Service Commission for the prestigious administrative posts.

“My son twice qualified the mains examination of civil services but was awarded low marks in the personality test. A candidate, who had secured 100 marks less than that of my son, was figuring in the final list,” said M Syed Malik from Budgam.

People have cast doubts about the functioning of Public Service Commission. They have taken pot-shots at the selection lists published by Public Service Commission. It is beyond doubt that these recruiting agencies for both gazetted and non-gazetted are mere money collecting centers for ministers and bureaucrats.

People opine that Public Service Commission lacks credibility as it works under the influence of ministers. The ministers get lion’s share in the selections made by the Public Service Commission.

Recruitment agency like PSC acts as a tool in the hands of the ministers and in the hands of those persons who are influential in the corridors of power. According to people this ruins the career of many genius students simply because they are not blue eyed.

Recently all heads hung in shame because of CET scam. It was beyond imagination that the agency like Board of Professional Entrance Examination displayed a very weak character with its chief the main culprit.

It is suggested that these institutions be guarded as the national assets. The work of these commissions should be beyond the influence of the ministers and bureaucrats.

“God knows better whether the papers of these prestigious exams are in the safe hands or not. Who knows that these papers are presold? Since nobody is trustworthy from ministers to bureaucrats, how can the selection be transparent,” said a hard working aspirant.
