| Violation of MCC: ARO 71 Gandhi Nagar seizes Rs 8 lakh unaccounted cash, publicity material | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Jammu April 2:- Continuing its drive against violators of Model Code of Conduct, the ARO-71 Gandhi Nagar Jammu Rajesh Kumar Shavan (KAS) in a Naka laid by him along with the flying Magistrate Dr. Ravi Bharti and SHO Police Station Gangyal caught unaccounted eight lacs cash from vehicle No. HR-51 5257 at main Kunjwani Chowk. As per the details available with “Early Times”, on suspicion the Vehicle carrying the cash was asked to stop near main Kunjwani Chowk and its frisking led to seizure of eight lacs in cash, However the Driver disclosed his identity as S.K Zutshi Cashier of Peaks Auto Ltd. and intimated that he was carrying the cash to deposit it with Bank. The matter was immediately brought into the notice of District Election Officer Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu by the Assistant Returning Officer 71 Gandhi Nagar Jammu and income tax officers were rushed immediately to take cognizance of the matter and scrutinize it as per rules. As per the Election Commissioner of India, no one can carry the cash exceeding Rs. 50000 and any cash beyond Rs. 50000 will come under the ambit of MCC and warranted scrutiny under law. Besides, the election related material of BJP & JKDF candidate was also seized from other vehicles which carried vehicle permission but the material did not disclose the name of publisher and printers as required under rules. Around 100 poster/flags/Caps of BJP and almost same No’s of Posters of JKDF candidate were also seized on spot and matter referred to the Returning officer for further action. It is pertinent to mention that the special drive has been launched in the entire AC segment to detect the movement of any unauthorized election material, cash & liquor to strictly enforce the Model Code of Conduct.
