Hockey selection trials on April 17

JAMMU, April 14: Hockey Jammu and Kashmir shall be holding selection trials to pick up probable for the upcoming Sub-Junior (U-16) National Championship to be held at Vadodra in Gujarat from May 10 to May 18.
The two-day trials shall take place at K K Hakhu Stadium here from April 17. Those born on or after January one, 1998 are only eligible for appearing in the selection process, a handout issued here today informed.

Kaka of RS Pura lifts Dera Kesari title

JAMMU, April 14: Pahelwan Kaka of RS Pura lifted the 23rd Dera Kesari dangal title defeating Kalu of Bishnah in a neck to neck bout that lasted for 22 minutes at Dera Baba Banda Bahadur in district Reasi.
Dangal was organized by Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Parbandhak Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the supervision of president of the Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Baba Jatinder Pal Sodhi (Gaddi Nashin).
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Rajinder Singh Tara was chief guest, who distributed prizes among the winners and runner-up. President of Indian Style Wrestling Association of India Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. District Project Officer and Mela Officer and Tehsildar Katra, Gian Chand were guests of honour.
Winner and runner of main bout were given away cash prizes worth Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively by the chief guest.
In all, 36 bouts were played in the day-long dangal. The second main bout went to Roshan Lal of Muthi in Jammu, who beat Bobri of Sarore. Arjun of Amritsar won the third main bout beating Ajay of Udhampur while fourth bout bagged by Nissar of Doda outplaying Parveen of Chandigarh. Murad Ali of Domana won the fifth bout beating Jasbir of Army of Phagwara.
Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Parbandhak Committee and technical officials who helped to conduct of this dangal were Baba Jatinder Pal Singh Sodhi (Gaddi Nashin), Malik Ram Lubhaya Paruthi (chairman), Sant Kumar Juneja (president), VP Makar, Sanjay Kumar, Deepak Wazir, Vijay Singh (Biju), Mohd. Fareed, Capt. Lehar Singh (Retd), Tulinder Kumar, Raj Hussain, Bittu Raina, Manjoor Hussain, Deeraj Kumar and Murli Dhar (Munna).
Other Results: Rohit of Amritsar beat Swarn Singh of Kot Bhalwal, Gurpreet of Rajasthan beat Anil Kumar (Mohanu) of J&K Police, Rakesh of Delhi beat Bagga of Kot Bhalwal, Gopal Sharma of Jindrah beat Rajana of Delhi, Ravinder Fougi of Delhi beat Billu of Kot Bhalwal, Munish of Amritsar beat Chinni of Vanaras, Dinu of Domana beat Hossiar Singh of Mahore, Jagga of Amritsat beat Lucky of Jammu, Gourav of Pathankot beat Sujjat of Udhampur, Ravi of Donmana beat Subash of Chopra Shop, Salman of Udhampur beat Panku of Domana, Karnail Singh of Batote beat Gulchain Singh of Danda Baggan, Anwar of Nargada beat Kuldeep of Banaras, Kala Nag of Banaras beat Devinder of Domana, Puran Singh of Reasi beat Munner Khan of Domana. Burnhall faces Biscoe School in U-17 final

SRINAGAR, April 14: Burnhall shall be playing against Biscoe School in the final of under-17 category in the ongoing Indoor Futsal competition, organised by the J&K Football Association (JKFA) at Sher-i-Kashmir Complex, here.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Burnhall defeated New Convent School via penalties while Biscoe School outplayed FC 69 2-0.
Meanwhile, in senior (F-Cube) category, Algazali FC and Encantidos shall be playing in the final. In the semifinals, played today, Algazali outplayed Hallionz United 2-1 and Encantidos trounced Offside FC by a solitary goal.

Power House XI in semis of Martyrs T20

POONCH, April 14: Power House XI today reached the semifinals of the Martyrs Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Shaheed Manjit Singh Club at Degree College ground, here.
In the first semifinal, Power House XI defeated YCC XI by two runs. Batting first, Power House set a target of 111 runs for eight wickets. Ashish made highest 21 runs. Waied took three wickets from YCC XI.
Later, YCC XI could not chase the target and completed their innings for 108 runs to lose the tie by two runs. Waied, who earlier bowled well, scored highest 20-ball 29 runs. Shallu claimed four wickets for 15 runs from Power House XI.
In today’s quarterfinal, SSP Poonch, Shamsher Hussain was special guest, who interacted with the teams.
