Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 14 : With two days left for the second phase of polls for Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency, heavy deployment has been made across all the districts especially in Kathua region situated along the Indo-Pak international border. "As the Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency will go to poll on April 17, tight security arrangements have been made in the town especially along the international border," Mohan Lal, Superintendent of Police, Kathua said. The J&K police has close liaison with the Border Security Force (BSF) manning the border, adding, "besides this, CRPF and Army is also on alert and deployed across the district to ensure incident free and smooth polling process. "The SP said security personnel have already been deployed in far flung areas like Bani, Basohli, Billawar and the remote belts. Six people including an Army officer, two civilians and three mili tants were killed in March 28 Fidayeen attack in the district. Meanwhile, security has also been beefed up in Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Doda and Kishwar districts, which falls in the Constituency. As many as 13 candidates are in fray for Udhampur-Doda Constituency including heavy weight Ghulam Nabi Azad, who will be contesting against BJP candidate Jitendra Singh, PDP's Arshad Malik, BSP's Dharampal Dasgotra and JKNPP's Bhim Singh. |
