JAMMU, Apr 14 : The robbery of Rs 5 lacs at R.S Pura took a new turn today with the police bringing the complainant under scanner for `enacting' a drama.
However, investigations are on. Sources said that complainant has alleged that four masked youth robbed Rs 5 lacs from him at gun point after firing four shots in air. However, investigation brought a different story to the fore.
The police did not find any rounds near by the spot. Further, FSL made it clear that one round which was recovered from the spot had been shot months ago.
Sources added the CCTV cameras, installed were switched off before the robbery. The statements recorded by the police from the servants also went against the complaint as they are totally unaware of the firing. Sources said that before the alleged robbery, the servants were asked to go inside the rice mill. It is possible that losing the money in betting in T 20 compelled complainant to enact the drama, a police officer said, adding investigation on this part is in progress. Coming on family back ground, the officer said that the complainant was looking after the Rice Mill and business owned by his widower sister namely Radha of Punjab. Pertinently, Rs 5 lakh was looted in a shop running in the name and style of Som Traders in the late hours of Friday last.As per complainant, some unidentified gun men, reportedly four in number, appeared in shop situated by Radha Rice Mill, opened fire and robbed him.
However, after the incident, the SSP Jammu Atul Kumar Goel ,SP Headquarters Rajinder Singh and SHO concerned reached the spot, thus started investigation after registration of the case in this connection. Incident took place at Rangpur Molana in Suchetgarh, R.S Pura, when four persons having two pistol appeared at the shop and at gun point asked the owner namely Neeraj Kumar to hand over the amount put up in the locker. Complainant further said that when he refused to obey their order, they opened fire in air. After taking amount, they fled from the spot on the two without registration number motorcycles.
