Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 14: The unbridled sale of tobacco items is at galore in various municipal limits of the city which have been noticed by the Sudarshan Choudhary, a senior PDP leader while having a round of various localities of Jammu Municipality area. More than a year ago ban was imposed on the sale of tobacco products in J&K state. Lakhanpur check post seized tobacco in various forms. Many steps were proposed to check the sale of such items. But it seems all in vain because small shop keepers have again started their business in the sale of tobacco items i. e. gutkha, pan masala, zarda, nevla, aashqi and other items. The J&K Govt also imposed ban on manufacture, storage, sale, transportation, display or distribution the above mentioned items. Shop Keepers are un-deterred by the punishments as proposed by the concerned checking authorities. Random checking and raids are the only solution if done effectively, he observed. |
