Medical licenses of 41 shops suspended

Srinagar, Apr 23: Licenses of 41 medical shops have been suspended for violation of various laws while show cause notices were issued to six shopkeepers, an official said here on Wednesday.
According to Deputy Controller, Drug and Food Control Organization, Kashmir, the department has launched a massive inspection drive across Kashmir and inspected 249 medical shops during past three days.
Asking chemist fraternity to maintain proper sale and purchase records including day book he enjoined upon them to sell drugs only on production of prescription.
The drugs were seized from a medical shop in Bemina locality running the shop without valid drug sale license during the drive and prosecution will be initiated in the case after completion of all legal formalities, he added.
In the interest of public health care, the department has lifted 324 drug samples so far from Government, private establishments, wholesalers and retailers for analysis purposes.
