| Ultimately Farooq realizes ground reality: Shifts attack on UPA to slowdown Modi bashing campaign | | U turn by NC patriarch raises many eye-brows | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 23: A day before polling for the Anantnag Parliamentary seat, Union Minister and president of National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah started showing his teeth to coalition partner Congress. Dr Farooq Abdullah, whose earlier campaign was confined only to attack BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, today indirectly attacked UPA Government to whom he is also part and said that UPA has to pay price for the things not done. "It is over now. What we should have done, we didn't do. We will pay the price for it. No use digging graves now," Abdullah told a New Delhi-based TV news channel in Srinagar. "Price rise was one of the biggest issues and that is what hit the Delhi government. Sheila Dixit lost because of that. It was not her fault, but how we at the centre couldn't control the price rise. We are responsible for that defeat." "We should have fought corruption hard... (but) we failed," he said. This outburst of Dr Farooq Abdullah is considered as U turn in the policy of National Conference, which was earlier part of the NDA government headed by former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. Dr Farooq Abdullah's statement attached importance because two days back his son and Chief Minister of the State Omar Abdullah had accepted that there was a Modi Wave. Omar Abdullah had stated that those ignoring Modi Wave were living in Fool's Paradise. Political experts are of the view Dr Farooq Abdullah's statement was a clear indication that National Conference was not happy with the performance of Congress led UPA Government so the party has started indirect attack on Congress. Furthermore, National Conference leadership has realised that change was imminent at Centre so it would be better to rake up other issues rather than attacking Modi campaign. |
