Jammu, Apr 23: As clash of egos between Police and Lawyers refuses to terminate three days on, the senior officers of Police and district administration have stayed indifferent of the inconvenience caused to the general public.
However, three days, SSP Jammu Atul Goel broke his silence and consented to the demand of the lawyers of the inquiry into the incident. "To break the ice, let the independent inquiry be held over the incident and allegations leveled against the Gandhi Nagar police. The officers were performing their duty and during routine checking they intercepted a without registration scooty, which was later discovered to owned by a lawyer. Is the law of land is different to different persons?", the SSP questioned, adding, both the sides should be heard and who so ever is found guilty, should face the law" the SSP said.
The reaction from the SSP came following protest demonstration by lawyers and allegations on police of snatching a gold ring and Rs 3200 from the lawyer besides manhandling. Meanwhile, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu today held a strong protest demonstration at Janipur High Court Complex against Gandhi nagar Police, who allegedly had assaulted Advocate Harshvardhan Gupta.
The members of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu showing their deep resentment staged a Dharna at Janipur main road and also burnt effigy of Police. Pertinently, the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu has already resolved in its General House meeting held on 22-04-2014 that work in all Courts will remain suspended, till the officers involved are suspended and enquiry is initiated against the erring officers.
Bar Associations of Kathua, Ramban, Samba, Billawar, Reasi, Katra, Basohli, Udhampur also suspended work in Courts while showing solidarity with the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu against the incident. Bar Association Kishtwar (BAK) also extended their support to agitating Jammu lawyers today and suspended the work in all courts of Kishtwar.
As soon as the court open today, BAK held the meeting under the chairmanship of its President and decided to suspend the work in all courts to show their solidarity with agitating BAJ lawyers.
