Jammu, Apr 23: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) leaders in a joint statement have expressed their great resentment on the critical condition of the city and peripheral roads particularly in the mountainous areas of Jammu province as such it is causing great hardships to the people living in the remote areas. Prof Virender Gupta, the president alongwith Nathu Ram Gupta and Devender Singh Jamwal of Jammu (both general secretaries) in a joint statement expressed their great anguish on the critical condition of the roads particularly in the mountainous areas of Jammu province as such it is causing great hardships to the people living in the remote areas. 'The roads form Batote to Kishtwar, Batote to Doda and other interlinks in the hilly terrain are completely in bad shape and are causing frequent road accidents resulting into the loss of precious lives, they said while refereeing to recent road tragedies. They said, "In the bad weather conditions the people residing in these areas remain disconnected from rest of the world. It is a sorry affair that the more than 50% of the funds allocated by the Government of India for the constructions of roads remain unspent." "The leaders said that Jammu province has been discriminated in the matter of road connectivity vis-a vis Kashmir Valley, they added. JSM leaders urged the government to awake from the slumber and give top priority to the road connectivity in the Jammu province, especially in the hilly areas. |
