Sumbal, Apr 23: The people in Sumbal area protested and blocked Srinagar-Bandipora road for five hours today against the failure of the Governemnt to take steps in fishing out the body of a youth who was drowned in river Jehlum at Sumbal three days back. The protestors also expressed grave concern over the callousness of district administration of Bandipora for not taking any steps in tracing out the body from the river despite the repeated pleas of the relatives and family members of the youth. As per reports a youth from Naninallah village in Sumbal Sonawari drowned in river Jehlum at Sumbal three days back. The parents and relatives of youth after searching him everywhere approached the administration to trace the youth who has drowned in river Jehlum. body from the river. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on Bandipora-Srinagar road with thousands of commuters for five hours. Some local leaders also visited the spot appealing the people to lift the blockade but to no avail. The people were demanding that the administration should respond to their demand and press into service the divers and other machines to for fishing out the body from the river. When the district administration of Bandipora failed to respond the peoples demand for fishing out the body from the river, some leaders of J&K Peoples Conference under the leadership of Mir Ghulam Rasool approached the district administration of adjoining Ganderbal district to sort out the matter and defuse the crisis, the Ganderbal district administration swung into action and assured the people to look intothe demand. |
