BBIA resents unscheduled 'power cuts' in Industrial Area

Samba, Apr 23 : Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held a meeting under the president ship of Annil Suri, President BBIA wherein members discussed the deteriorating power supply in SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana Jammu for the last few months which is taking toll of the industrial sector.
Association members flayed the working of Power Development Department (PDD) where nobody is accountable for repeated power failures in the Industrial Area. "The Department is not taking this issue seriously due to which the industrialists are facing huge financial losses, production losses, they said.
Speaking in this meeting Annil Suri president BBIA, said that the matter was taken up with the concerned officials of PDD number of times but no action has been taken so far for the improvement in the situation mainly because of funds availability with various PDD wings. 'Due to non availability of Spares at the Grid Stations situated in Bari Brahmana Industrial Area, the unscheduled power cuts are prolonged day by day, he lamented.
He also mentioned funds for the replacement of damaged equipments has been sanctioned by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the Industrial Advisory Committee Meeting but till date no action has been taken by the PDD to start the work.
Industries located in Bari Brahmana are contributing app Rs 120 Crores towards the Cost of Power supplied to Industrial Area and if Department spends 1% of the same on the Maintenance, the same will be realized from the additional revenue generation from the supply of Power which is at present going waste due to unscheduled Power Cuts.
