| Poster competition to mark No Tobacco day held | | | Early Times Report Akhnoor, May 15: Maharaja Hari Singh DAV Cent Public ((MHSDCP) School Akhnoor started a campaign on World No Tobacco Day 2014 by organizing a Poster making competition on the theme ‘The Harmful effects of Tobacco.’ According to spokesperson of school atleast 156 students of class IX & X participated in the competition and brought their feelings regarding the campaigns against tobacco in colours on the papers. Students who enthusiastically participated in the competition expressed in befitting manner and portrayed the above mentioned theme. Concluding the occasion Principal of the school appreciated the students participation and exhorted them to create awareness in the society about the ill effects of tobacco smoking. Kiran Wattal, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, was the "Chief Guest" while Rev Udai Singh, Presbyter-in-charge St Paul's Church, Jammu, I D Soni, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Senior members of the Managing Committee were special invitees on the occasion. Chief Guest, the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Kiran Wattal, in his brief speech urged all the council members to perform the duties assigned to them whole-heartedly and to uphold the values of honesty, integrity and loyalty as vital qualities for positions of responsibility and dignity. Earlier Principal, Esther William, along with Rev Udai Singh welcomed the chief guest who hoisted the National Flag on this occasion. In the end of investure ceremony S K Munshi, Coordinator, presented the vote of thanks Xxxxx KC Gurukul wins Bournvita Quiz Contest Early Times Report JAMMU, May 15: KC Public School students who represented their school at the city level Bournvita Quiz Contest held at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium (University of Jammu) emerged as winners. “The lead team from KC Public School comprising Ayushmaan Sharma and Manas Wadhwa were declared winners, a statement said. According to spokesperson atleast 200 students from 28 leading schools of Jammu participated in the said competition the first step towards participation at the national level through a mega quiz televised on Indian media and conducted by the famed Quiz Master Derek O'Brien. “Students from DPS, Jammu, JK Public School, Jodhamal Public School, Presentation Convent, KC International and various army schools of Jammu participated in this contest, said the statement. “After a tough contest, the lead team from KC Public School comprising Ayushmaan Sharma and Manas Wadhwa were declared winners, the statement said adding, “they were awarded with the Champion-ship Trophy, individual medals and winners' certificates besides a big Quiz Logo placard for display in their school. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
