RSS 'controlling' BJP affairs: Azad
5/15/2014 11:18:50 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 15: Union Minister and Congress candidate from Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary Constituency Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that the affairs of Bharatiya Janata Party are directly being controlled by the cadre of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
"This time not the BJP but RSS was contesting the Lok Sabha elections," Azad told a national news channel here this evening.
He alleged that when there is direct involvement of RSS, obviously, 'rumours' are there and no doubt this time during elections BJP flared up the issues of mis-governance, corruption in Congress Rule and also played with the religious sentiments to woo the voters.
BJP speaks blatant lies, Azad said and added, "earlier we were doubtful of RSS role in BJP but after the last phase of elections was over, they had directly come in the front."
"And whatever the RSS will say, has to be accepted by the BJP," he said and added that the RSS Cadre will even decide the Number 2 and Number 3 positions in the Party.
"Besides positions, the portfolios and the Cabinet ranks will not be designated without the interference of the RSS," he said.
The Union Minister further said that there is a lot of difference between Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi.
"RSS people were too small in front of Vajpayee and they even failed to dictate him as Vajpayee used to dictate terms to RSS," he said and alleged that Narendra Modi was and is an active 'Pracharak' of RSS and he will do what his bosses (RSS) will direct him.
"A man who is an active 'Pracharak' of RSS, is not healthy for the nation as we have a very composite culture in India," Azad said adding that Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Jains, Parsis-people of many religions are living in India but RSS does not believe in single religion and nation.
"Secularism, different religions-is the strength of our country," he said.
Azad also blamed the BJP for sidelining the liberal leadership in the party, and added, "BJP does not have liberal leader as Vajpayee and those who exist, are being sidelined."
"I had good terms with Vajpayee when he was leader of the opposition and I was Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and we used to share so many things with him because he was liberal," he said.
Only hardcore cadre is being promoted in BJP at this juncture with RSS leading from the front, he said adding, "BJP this time did not seek vote for the party but for Modi."
